Today you got new seats.
Then we began Macbeth. You taped the "Questionnaire" into your comp books and answered the questions...then we talked about them. I gave you some information about the background of the play including information about King James I and Shakespeare. Then you read the Pre-Reading handouts and answered the questions, and we talked about them. After that I checked out books to you. You might want to purchase your own copy of the play (any version is fine as long as its the real language of Shakespeare) so that you can write in your book -- this will be tested on the May IB exam. Then we read and discussed Act 1, Scene 1. If you were absent, please read all the handouts and do all the activities as above to make sure you're caught up! Today we had FOAs. Then you took the WT survey, above. I handed out a document about WT 1 possibilities for Persepolis. The assessment for Persepolis will be your choice of a WT 1, WT 2, or a Persepolis essay based on questions from the Paper 2 exam. Wednesday you will have time to work on your Written Task or essay. Please come with your copy of Persepolis so you can make good use of your time. Thursday and Friday you will be watching Persepolis the Movie. Additional Assignments for Persepolis are due next Wednesday to turnitin.com. These will all be study tools for you to use to study for the Paper 2 exam in May. 20 points each. You may want to do these as you go along rather than waiting until the end of the novel.

Today we finished the poster presentations. Then we had a class discussion on the last 3 chapters of the novel. Period 2: We had our poster presentations today. HW: For both classes: Read and annotate the book review "God Looked Like Marx." IB wants you to understand the reception of the novel, and this is a book review from 2003 when the novel first came out. (Shared with you in Google Drive.) |
