Period 1:
Today we read an article on representations of Muhammad in art. If you missed class today, read the article by clicking on this link: Have pictures of Muhammad always been forbidden? We drew connections between what we learned in the article and Persepolis. Then we watched two videos about Zoroastrianism and Nouruz, Persian New Year, to add context to our understanding of Persepolis page 7. Watch and take notes on the videos through the links below. What is Zoroastrianism? What is Nowruz? We looked at the first part of the Persepolis notes powerpoint and worked on analyzing 3 figures from chapters 1 & 2 for graphic and literary elements. Due tomorrow: Read through The Water Cell and complete journal. Period 2: Today we reviewed Graphic Novel conventions (see shared PowerPoint). You worked on identifying examples of these from the text. Then we talked about what we have learned so far about Marji, her family, and her society from the novel.
